Canniff and Associates
Canniff & Associates, Psychological and Support Services, has been providing quality services to a wide range of clients since becoming incorporated in 1978. We are comprised of Registered Psychologists, Provisional Registered Psychologists, and specialists such as Neuropsychologists and Psychiatrists.

Canniff & Associates’ Psychologists provide a wide range of therapeutic services, which may include individual, couple and family counselling, as well as educational, parenting, socio-emotional, personal risk, learning disabilities, vocational and neuropsychological assessments. We also offer consultation services pertaining to Custody and Access, file reviews and second opinions, and employee selection and termination. A variety of groups are offered on an as-needed basis, which may include anger management, self-esteem building, teen sexuality, gender identity issues, depression, grieving and loss, survivors of sexual abuse, sexual offender groups and women’s psychology groups.

Canniff & Associates offers services in Edmonton, Calgary and Whitecourt, Alberta. Associates are also available across Alberta to facilitate your therapeutic needs.

OUR TEAM

Dr. Jim Canniff, Ph.D, Registered Psychologist jim@canniff.ca

Dr. Jim Canniff, the Director of Canniff and Associates Counseling Services Ltd., is a Registered Psychologist as well as a teacher. He is also a member of several professional organizations and has been in private practice since 1983. For 25 years through offices in Edmonton, Calgary and Whitecourt, Alberta, he and his team have continued to provide a variety of services related to assessment, counseling and consultation. Dr. Canniff has provided expert witness testimony at many levels and on many occasions. Dr. Canniff has had the opportunity to present on a variety of topics at local, national and international levels. He is active in his community and has been involved in coaching minor sports for more than 35 years at various levels.

Gordon Drybrough, MEd., Registered Psychologist gordon@canniff.ca

Prior to joining Canniff and Associates in 1996, Gordon held various front line, management and senior management positions in the area of persons with disabilities. This work also involved teaching at the post-secondary level and included the coordination of a post-degree diploma programme in the Middle East. As a Clinical Psychologist, Gordon is currently the School Coordinator for Canniff and Associates and provides psychoeducational and behavioural assessments and consultation services to schools. He has been accepted as an expert witness in the Provincial Court of Alberta and the Court of Queen's Bench, in cases related to child and family services matters.

Nada Taliani, M.A., Registered Provisional Psychologist nada@canniff.ca

Nada started as a Registered Provisional Psychologist with Canniff and Associates in November 2007. She has a Master of Arts degree in Counselling Psychology and has interest in working with children, adolescents, and adults experiencing varying forms and degrees of life issues. Her previous experience includes working as a behaviour interventionist with children with Autism, an individual counsellor for adults, and co-facilitator of a bereavement group. She also facilitates a personal growth group and is involved in the development of various wellness workshops. Nada is committed to high standards of practice and is dedicated to providing a safe and supportive therapeutic environment for clients to enhance personal development and improve quality of life.

Stephen Bernard, M.A., Registered Provisional Psychologist stephen@canniff.ca

Stephen started as a Behavioral Consultant with Canniff and Associates in November 2008. He became a Registered Provisional Psychologist in February 2009. He has a Master of Arts degree in Counselling Psychology and has interest in working with children, adolescents, and adults experiencing many of life’s stressors and issues. His previous experience includes working as a residential counselor with adolescents and adults with a variety of psychiatric diagnosis such as Depression, Bipolar Disorder and Schizophrenia. He is currently facilitating a personal growth group and is involved in individual therapy as well as play therapy. Stephen is committed to high standards of practice and is dedicated to providing a safe and supportive therapeutic environment for clients to enhance personal development and improve quality of life.
